Item is a photograph of players at the chess board in the south mall of Park Royal Shopping Centre. The match was between B.C. champion Nigel Fullbrook and Washington state champion Jeremy Silman. It was the first of an annual series of matches, sponsored by the B.C. Chess Federation and Park Royal, which continued until 1993, pitting chess champions from B.C. against those from Washington.
