Scope and Content: Series consists of correspondence sent and received by the Clerk of the District of West Vancouver, or "C.M.C." [Clerk Municipal Council]. The correspondence is arranged by year in alphabetical order according to correspondent surname or organizational name. The correspondence consists of original incoming correspondence and copies of outgoing correspondence. Correspondence for the years 1912, 1922, 1932, and 1942 has been retained in its entirety, in order to provide a sample of the nature and quantity of correspondence handled by the department during the early development of the District. For all other years, the correspondence has been weeded, and the following routine correspondence and records have not, for the most part, been retained: tax notices, tax receipts, requests for tax notices, requests regarding taxes owing, tax payment information, disputes regarding taxes owing and paid, notices of tax arrears, requests regarding arrears on properties, tenders for debentures and bonds, tenders for insurance coverage, banking matters (lost cheques, signing authorities, debenture payments, charges due), results of bylaw vote, copies of bylaws and resolutions, draft resolutions, arranging meetings, new address information, requests to publish notices in the press.
