- Origin Note
- Named as per Naming Changing and Settling Street Names Bylaw 18, 1912.
- A proposed subdivision called 'Belle-Vue' advertised lots for sale near 23rd Street and Marine Drive in 1912. This was close to Reeve Charles Nelson's home and property, which may also have been called 'Bellevue'. Whether either of these influenced the name of this street is unclear.
- Dundarave portion formerly Gladstone Street, named for William Ewart Gladstone (1809-1898) British statesman and Prime Minister, renamed as per Naming Changing and Settling Street Names Bylaw 18, 1912.
